| Ficlet - Convergence |
[Nov. 10th, 2009|05:43 pm] |
Since I didn't get a chance to do it last week, here's a reposting of my seasonal_spuffyficlet so I have it archived at my journal. For those that missed it (or any of the other entries), head on over!
Title: Convergence Author: ClawofCat Timing: S7 Rating: PG-13 Pairing: Spike/Buffy Words: 603 Summary: Set during "Lessons," we learn more about Spike, the soul, and his perceptions about Buffy when sanity was slippery at best. A/N: Many thanks to only_passengerfor being my last minute sounding board on this fic.
(Within the fever dreams he sees a girl.)

Has spread from arm to wrist and back of hand. Going to see doc on Thursday.
Project go-live date has been declared as 1st September 2010. There will be no taking of leave for a month before or after this date. Which essentially puts paid to both DragonCon plans and the RDA con in Vancouver next year.
Instead, I'm contemplating going to Europe (as was in the original plan for 2010) in mid-to-late July 2010. B2 may accompany me, but...that's going to be a tricky business. I want to see Eastern Europe more than the west; she probably wants to see the west more than the east, and somehow I have to fit it in in two weeks, including travel time, because I won't have more than 10 days of AL.
I don't suppose there's anyone who: a) would like to go to Europe in 2010, b) can afford to go through Europe in 2010? Travelling alone just doesn't work; I know that by now. Finding someone to travel with, though, is a whole new degree of difficult. |

| Salamander |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|09:02 am] |
Yesterday was beautiful, mild and sunny, so Dad, David, Lauren and I went for a walk in the local woods. We'd only just started to go along the trail when the couple in front of us called us over; the man, who seemed to know what he was talking about, had found a salamander and we all got to hold it for a second. It was small and wriggly and kind of slimy in a rubbery sort of way. Think of a live Gummi Worm :-)
He said it was quite rare and when we got back, we looked it up. It seems to be this one:
Jefferson Salamander which 'only occurs in southwestern Ontario where it is rare and local'

| Light My Fire Awards: voting closing soon! |
[Nov. 8th, 2009|01:55 pm] |
A scarier thought than brain-eating zombies and all that leftover candy: a week from tomorrow, it'll be too late to vote in the 2009 LMFA. Voting closes at midnight EST on the 15th of November, and then it's all over but the counting.
Mondays are never fun, but don't let Monday the 16th have an extra reason to be gloomy because you've missed the boat; vote for your favorite fics, vids, or art while you still have the chance.
You can browse the ballot here and then head to the voting page here to cast your vote. |

| Where the Wild Things Are |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|07:53 pm] |
Just took L and 2 friends to see this for L's ninth birthday party.
I read the book to my daughters when they were little, but it's not part of my childhood (not sure it's known in the UK much?) so my mum, who went with us was a bit lost.
As she said; nothing happens.
I liked the book well enough but when I saw they were making a movie out of it, I was all ???? as there is not a whole lot of source material (nine sentences and the pictures?).
I found it profoundly depressing and dull with the odd moment of discomfort and my favorite bit was the sea and the beach; gorgeous setting.
But overall? Meh. And most of it went right over the kids' heads so what was the point? |

Am sick, feel middling gross.
Capsule summaries of TV watched recently, in no particular order (cutting even though I don't *think* anything could be considered spoilery, because I know some people are stricter than me):( Read more... ) |
