Bizarre.

I hear you're moving here to Madrid, soon, where hopefully the culture shock will be less extreme.

Yes, indeed. I'm bringing my gay boyfriend's boyfriend with me to help me get settled in -- so if you could recommend some fun clubs in La Chueca, I'd be much obliged.

You need to define what you mean by "club" a bit more. The nightlife in Spain is much later than in the US. So one goes out to a bar at, say, 12:30am. Whereas a disco/danceclub, not until 3am or later. So it all depends on the kind of nightlife you're looking for.

Right now, Chueca is full of outdoor terraces, which is pleasant.

If your friend's boyfriend is preppy, he'd like either Sunrise (on C/ Barbieri) or Liquid (on C/ Barquillo, a NY-style video bar). If he's into leather, he should go to the Eagle (C/ Pleayo). If he's into bears, he should go to Hot (C/ Infantas). For normal, everyone sort of mixed together (but a fairly rugged /masculine atmosphere) there's Enfrente (also C/ Infantas).

For discos, the best is probably Cool (C. Santa Isabel, 6) for Friday or Saturday night.

Although it has been a long time since I went out to a disco!
